Lot 163: Royal Dragoon Guards Cavalry Helmet with Case

A bit of history in the next item. A Helmet belonging to Major Herbert Hoare. On the 2nd May 1885, transferred as a Lieutenant from the Third Battalion Oxfordshire Light Infantry to the 5th Dragoon Guards and was promoted to Captain in 1893. Promoted again to Major in July 1899, wounded at the Battle of Ladysmith (South Africa), on the 30th November 1899. He was also awared an OBE in the 1919 Birthday honours list for War Service. Helmet in excellent condition with original container.
