Emperor Claudius II Gothicus Roman Coin – AD 268 -270. Marcus Aulerius Valerius Claudius was proclaimed Emperor after the death of Emperor Gallienus who was murdered by his officers. Name “Gothicus” taken from his destruction of the Gothic Cavalry.

Claudius II (Marcus Aulerius Valerius Claudius). Aureus 268-270, 2.7.g, diameter 20mm. On the obverse, IMP C CLAVDIVS P F AVG, laureate, draped, cuirassed bust right, on the Reverse: GENIVS EXERCI, Genius, naked but for chlamys on left shoulder, standing left, holding patera and cornucopiae. Wear to note.
