An English Civil War Coin, by Charles 1st. On the obverse: Crowned and bearded bust of Charles I, XII behind, with the inscription: CAROLVS D G MAG BRIT FR ET HI REX. On the Reverse: a square-topped shield over cross moline quartering arms, with the inscription: CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO (I reign under the auspice of Christ). Weight 5.9g, Diameter: 30mm. Middleham Hoard, discovered 1993, originally sold at Christies 1995.
